HISTORY OF PHYSIOTHERAPY
Hippocrates and later Gelanus, both are believed to have been the first practitioner of physiotherapy. They incorporated massage, manual therapy, and hydrotherapy in 460 B.C. to treat the individuals.
The official registration was given in the year of 1887 for PTs by Sweden’s National Board of Health and Welfare. The first research for physical therapy was published in the United States in 1921 and later on, Mary Mc Millan organised the Physical Therapy Association which is now called as APTA ( AMERICAN PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSOCIATION).
Since the Human anatomy and structure is quite more, PTs tend to specialize in specific clinical areas.
